Why does Deepam need funds?
Deepam needs funds to run its centres and expand to new projects. Currently, we are supported by individual donors.
Our needs are specifically
- Infrastructure to teach computers: Power Supply, Laptops/PCs, Internet access at centres
- Curriculum Material: Reading and writing material, Books and dictionaries for the children
How much money can I donate?
You are welcome to donate any amount you wish to, based on your interest and capacity. Your donation will help a young organization like ours go the distance in helping children get access to Computers and other facilities.
Are donations eligible for tax deductions?
All donations received are eligible for a tax deduction under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961

Donating a laptop or PC – Old or New
Why does Deepam need Computers?
Computer education is a crucial pillar of our curriculum, giving the “keys” of the greatest source of information out there – the internet. The centres that we teach in do not have the infrastructure required to bring computer access to children. Deepam works to set up power supply, PC & laptop access and internet access in the classroom. We aim to achieve an access ratio of three children to one computer. Given that we have close to 120 students in Deepam and very few computers/laptops, we are always on the look out for machines.
At present, some of the centres do not support facilities to permanently house PCs. Laptops are preferred because the volunteers can carry them to the centres for the class.
What sort of computers is Deepam looking for?
Our requirements are simple: Any working Laptop/PC/Netbook will do, preferably loaded in Windows XP and MS Office 2003+. Wifi enabled machines are an added bonus

I have an old laptop/PC that I do not use. Can I donate it to Deepam?

Sponsoring Deepam Events & Occasions like Birthdays for Children
We regularly conduct competitions for children and celebrate their birthdays. The schedule and requirements for these events are dynamic. If you wish to sponsor any of these events, please contact Balaji/Karthikeyan (Contact us) and we will get in touch with you on schedule and requirements.
